Whether it’s your favorite season or you are mourning the end of summer, fall is in full swing. You don’t have to be a pumpkin spice lover to appreciate what fall brings to the state. Living in New Jersey means we get to enjoy all four seasons, and autumn is no exception.

No matter where you live, fall brings three things to mind: leaves changing color, pumpkins, and apples. Luckily for us in New Jersey, we don’t have to travel far for any of them.
Apple and Pumpkin Picking
Farms and orchards are teeming with the spirit of fall this time of year. Just a short drive from Hoboken or Jersey City, you can get your fill of apples, pumpkins, hayrides, and more. It’s hard to deny to the beauty of autum during peak weeks of fall foliage. You can take a scenic drive to get in some views, but if you’re ready for more adventure, head to one of these spots:
Tour a Cider Mill
Ralston Cider Mill is open for small group tours by appointment. Visit the last remaining cider mill in New Jersey, whose tour includes the history of the mill, a demonstration of apple cider production, and how grains are ground into flour. Surrounded by parks and woodland preserves, you can make a full day out of your visit!
Fall Themed Train Rides
Delaware River Railroad Excursions offers train ride adventures in the fall. The Great Pumpkin Train is a family-fun event, where children can pick a pumpkin from the patch, take part in two maze games, and visit the Susquehanna Mine. For adult fun, The Winery Train takes you along the scenic Delaware River, followed by a visit to a New Jersey winery, where you receive a guided tour and a wine tasting.
